Job Title:Covenant Team LeadLocation:Carmel ValleyWhat you'll
do:As a Team Leader in the Covenant Compliance Group, you will be
in a leadership role responsible for supporting a team of Credits
Analysts who support our Lending and Deposit Sales teams. Your team
is responsible for performing pre-qualification assessments and
analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests,
gathering all information necessary to present a financing request
to senior management or Loan Committee for approval. The Team
Leader role will work directly under a Supervisor of the Covenant
Compliance Group, and will work in a supporting/assisting capacity.
Western Alliance uses a team-based approached to portfolio
management and so you'll work with a team that includes commercial
bankers, business development officers, and credit analysts and
partners from credit administration, loan administration, and
credit risk review.What we are looking for:
- Reviews the work from Portfolio Managers, including loan
presentations, rating reviews, credit applications, financial
analysis, extension of credit limits, action plans, provisional
risk scoring and usual portfolio management requirements.
- Oversees the identification of risks issues, close monitoring
of and reporting on the status of the borrower and underlying
project conditions, including escalating to appropriate departments
where appropriate.
- Supervises a variety of general portfolio management
activities, including timely monitoring of due dates for credit
applications, borrower ratings, covenants, undertakings, collateral
checks, KYC and compliance requirements in order to mitigate credit
risk to the Bank.
- Prepares regular reports including but not limited to credit
conditions and instructions, monitoring reports, presentations to
management or credit committee.
- Coordinates processing of approved loans; ensures loans are
processed according to agreement, customer needs and conform to
Bank lending policies; obtains sufficient information and/or
documentation from customers; solves problems relative to
processing and servicing of loans within the portfolio.
- Supports projects related to maintaining and improving internal
credit and loan administration policies and procedures.
- Leads and develops a team; responsible for hiring, coaching,
performance management, training and developmentQualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four (4) year college or
university, and minimum of three (3) years or more related
experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of
education and experience.
- Work related experience should consist of an in-depth
background in financial statement analysis.
- Educational experience, through in-house training sessions,
formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be
applicable to the financial industry.
- Advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including
loan administration, and/or other commercial banking products and
services.
- Advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal
compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards
and practices.
- Ability to spread large, complex financial statements and tax
returns and complete cash flow forecasting.
- Ability to make pertinent comments relating to the current
credit risk as reflected by the spread.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and project management skills for
a variety of tasks or projects.
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple
facets, variables in non-standardized situations.
- Strong speaking and writing skills for internal and external
audiences
- Previous leadership experience preferred, but not required
- Occasional travel requiredCompensation: Salary range for new
hires is generally $93,000.00 - $112,000.00 for San Diego, CA.
Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition,
the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and
